Overview of subsidies for companies in Brussels
As the subsidies are a regional matter, the subsidies are only available for companies having one operating office in the Brussels region, active in certain sectors of activities.

The Brussels government offers a wide range of grants to choose from: ranging from subsidies for participation to a recognized coworking center over grants for carrying out works to subsidies for following a specific training. The subsidies you can get eventually depend on the size of your company (small, medium, big), the nature of the activities (consulting, construction works,…) you carry out, and the sector your company is active (the subsidy).
The Brussels government has developed an online tool that helps you to determine what kind of subsidies you can apply for. You simply have to fill in relevant information about your company and the sector you are active in. Once completed the tool gives you an overview of a number of activities you can ask subsidies for. Note that this tool could not identify the full potential of the subsidies you can pretend to.
What subsidies are possible for consultancy services?
Consultancy services can be subsidized for 40 up to a maximum of 60% of the total costs of the consultancy fee to be paid.
The consultancy services need to belong to a certain category of services ranging from legal services over the prevention of a burnout plan to a transition of a business towards a circular economy. You can find the list of the complete services via the following link.
The consultancy mission needs to address a specific problem or issue.
The consultancy services cannot exceed a period of 6 months.
The service provider who carries out the mission:
- has as its main activity the provision of the relevant consulting services,
- must be a specialist in its area,
- has been carrying out its consultancy activities for at least 2 years
- must be an independent service provider
- has never carried out a subsidized consultancy assignment for the company during the last two years.
How to apply for subsidies for consultancy services?
The application for subsidies is filled in entirely online via the following link.
The different steps of filling in the application form can be summarized as follows:
- register your company and its activities
- describe the nature of the activities you want to apply for subsidies
- find and identify a qualified and recognized service provider to carry out the services
- complete and sign your application by adding a number of documents (bank account, the detailed offer of the service provider, a signed declaration that you have not applied for subsidies in the past for similar or equivalent services)
Once filled in the application is sent online (together with the relevant documents) by the company. The government acknowledges the receipt of the application via email.
Important is that the mission of consultancy cannot be started before the company has received the email of the Brussels government acknowledging the receipt of the application.
How to obtain subsidies for legal advice?
